FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What is new in the updated massage continuing education hands-on Going Beyond Trigger Points Seminar format compared to the usual 2-day workshop?

A:The new Going Beyond Trigger Points Seminar is actually three courses in one:

1. You get thorough hands-on training and paced, in-depth knowledge on Trigger Point Therapy in the techniques and their application in the specific body area Core Unit (e.g. Shoulders & Torso). This includes content required for taking the National Certification Board Exam for Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy. You also receive abundant personal guidance and individual attention from Cathy. And of course, you receive 16 CEUs with this approved NCBTMB Continuing Education Course

2. You receive thorough training and practice in essential Therapist Self-Care protocols to make sure you enjoy a long and healthy career as a Trigger Point Therapist.

3. After the in-person, hands-on Going Beyond Trigger Points Seminar, you’ll receive the six weeks Follow-Up & Enrichment Program with paced, comprehensive Multimedia Reinforcement for each 2 day hands-on course you take to ensure retention and integration of the new knowledge and skills.  (You’ll get 4 weeks of follow-up for both the live 8 CEU one-day hands-on workshops and the 6 CEU interactive webinars.)

With this new format you receive a more thorough education in Trigger Point Therapy in each Core Unit body area.

Q: I have taken Seminars with Cathy before. Should I retake the a Core Unit in the new format?

A: Please see answer to the first question above.  Many of my graduates have attended the updated live workshops and found a lot of additional in-depth knowledge and training.  Plus, it’s an ideal way to deepen your knowledge by helping guide therapists with little or no experience in Trigger Point Therapy. Also please remember that you will receive a 6-week Follow Up & Enrichment Program that will be very helpful for reinforcing and enriching your knowledge and skill level.

Q: I am completely new to Trigger Point Therapy training– is the 2 day Seminar for experienced Trigger Point Therapists only?

A: Any of the two day Beyond Trigger Points seminars in the new format will provide an ideal introduction to Trigger Point Therapy.  I also recommend that therapists who are new to trigger point therapy take the corresponding online 4 CEU credit course in any of the four core body areas before attending. This is not required, but it will give you a much more solid understanding of core concepts prior to taking the hands-on workshop.

You will receive the 6 week Follow Up & Enrichment Program to help integrate and reinforce the knowledge and skills you learn over the weekend.

Q:  How much “hands-on” experience do I get in the Interactive Webinars?

A:  These Interactive Webinars are approved for “hands-on” CEUs by NCBTMB. For at least 60% of the time you will be doing an exchange with your therapist partner (or a non-therapist family member or client) while Cathy walks you through the routines.  We’ve found that Cathy can guide you just as well via zoom, and some of our students have commented that they like “being in the front row” for all the demos.

Q: Will these Going Beyond Trigger Points Seminars prepare me for the National Board Certification Exam?

A: Yes, the Going Beyond Trigger Points Seminars are designed to provide you with all the knowledge you need to prepare for the exam, especially if you also supplement these with the corresponding online 4 CEU courses.  Of course, you need to put in the time to study and prepare for the exam. There is really no shortcut to mastering the material!

Q: I am a newly graduated Massage Therapist but I am very interested in Trigger Point: Should I attend?

A: Yes, you don’t need to be a practicing Trigger Point Therapist to attend and benefit from the Seminar!

There are no prerequisites other than having a working knowledge of anatomy and a strong desire to upgrade your skills and learn new material. So if you are a serious student, then YES of course you can and should take one of these Workshops or Seminars. They offer you the best possible training in Trigger Point Therapy and an excellent preparation for the National Board Exam. But if you are just looking to get some easy CEUs to fulfill a Continuing Education requirement, then these workshops are not for you.
I do suggest that new therapists take the corresponding online 4 CEU credit course in any of the four core body areas before attending. This is not a prerequisite, but it will give you a better background and deeper understanding of the core concepts prior to taking the hands-on workshop.

Q: Do I need to bring any materials or special clothes for your seminars?

A: Just the basics:

1. Your own sheets & face cradle cover

2. Massage oil, cocoa or shea butter

3. Loose clothing to easily expose the body region being studied

4. Casual and comfortable, loose clothing

5. For the hands-on sessions, men are requested to bring shorts or bathing suits. Women should bring shorts and halter tops.

6. Participants must be prepared to expose the body region of study during practice to enhance the overall learning experience

7. Study guides if you have already completed the online lessons
(Separate lab manuals for the hands-on workshop will be provided)

8. A wrap or sweater

9. Identification and treatment of myofascial trigger points requires short fingernails.

10. Colored pencils or markers

11. Tables will be provided

Q: What about lunch?

A: Generally, we take 45 minutes to an hour for lunch when on-site at the massage schools. Often we will carpool to a healthy restaurant. However, feel free to bring your own lunch. Note: Only water is allowed in the classrooms.

Q: What is your refund/cancellation policy?

A: If for some reason we have to cancel a seminar, we will refund your registration fee or deposit. If you cancel more than 14 days prior to the seminar you have paid for, you apply the full credit to another Beyond Trigger Points Seminar, webinar or online course within the following 6 months. If you notify us of your withdrawal from the class with less than 14 days notice, you may transfer 50% of your registration fee to another live seminar, webinar or online course held by BeyondTriggerPoints within the following 6 months.  PLEASE NOTE: If you have registered for a course through a massage school, then their refund and cancellation policies apply.

Q: What can I do to get the most from a Beyond Trigger Points Seminar, Intensive or Workshop?

A: Yes! I invite you to join the “Honors Track” to get the most from your Seminar, whether for a One Day Intensive or a 2 Day Seminar.

It’s easy – just access the FREE Online Introductory Audio Lesson to jump-start your learning. Download my FREE mp3 audio lesson “The Challenges of Treating Clients with Muscular Pain.” Get instant access to this 47-minute introduction & 8-page study guide here.

If you really want to maximize your learning, I also recommend that you take the corresponding online 4 CEU credit course in any of the four core body areas before attending. This is not required, but it will give you a much more solid understanding of core concepts prior to taking the hands-on workshop.

And please plan to take full advantage of the 6-week Follow-Up Enrichment & Integration online program you will receive as part of any 2 day Seminar. You will retain and be better able to apply the knowledge and techniques you learn during your training weekend.

(One-Day Intensive students get a special 4-week Follow-Up Program.)
